Members are invited to visit the site of the new SOUL Church.

Those of you who were able to join us back in October 2023 we hope will relish the opportunity to return to the new development that has recently opened on Heartsease Lane Norwich.

The building was constructed on the site of the former Family Life Church that was sadly destroyed by fire in 2006. The new building consists of a 1200 seat Auditorium, Chapel Area, Café Area and also a new Nursery Facility to replace the current operation on the site.

There will be a short presentation by the Architect and we will be joined by Senior representative of the SOUL Church to give us an insight into the client perspective during a tour of the recently opened site and facilities.

The genesis of this large refurbishment project lies with the completion of the superb Dyson Building and the School having the opportunity to upgrade the former Science and IT classrooms. In September 2021, work started to scope and design a scheme to upgrade the East Wing of Big School (Phase 1) and the remainder of the Reith Building (Phase 2). The project’s aims include – to restore the 120 year old East Wing to provide modern and up to date classroom facilities on a par with the Dyson experience; to upgrade the >50 year old Reith building to also provide modern classroom facilities; to enhance energy performance of the buildings; to provide new office space and most importantly a new second floor in Big School that links with the Reith second floor to provide a new exam and study space for pupils.

Hudson Architects will be conducting the site visit and available to answer questions. There will also be free onsite parking.

Creating New "Supported Modular Home Communities"

Allia Future Homes are custom-building modular home communities on permanent sites, or temporary sites that are loaned at low or no cost. They have led three successful projects to provide low-cost, high-quality homes as move-on housing for those experiencing homelessness, single adults with challenges like former rough sleepers. Lewis Herbert, Manager at Allia Future Homes, will present a talk focussing on the planning and site development of the projects and target locations in East England. Allia are looking for further potential urban sites and partnerships.
