The Norwich Forum for the Construction Industry was founded in 1991 as an informal local society whose members work in or otherwise have an interest in the construction industry.

It promotes an understanding of those topics in the industry, which cover a wider field than those normally dealt with by the local branches of the various learned and professional societies. This it does by arranging a programme of meetings, seminars and visits.

Meetings of the Forum generally draw an audience of 50 to 100 and the breadth of membership attracts speakers of the highest quality. A feature of the Forum meetings is the concluding open forum discussion between the panel of speakers and the audience.

The Forum is financially self-supporting and it has no commercial aims or political affiliations. Its membership is open to a wide group including building owners, building contractors, sub-contractors, architects, surveyors, engineers, lawyers, accountants and trades union representatives.

The Forum Council is represented on the Norwich City Council Quality Panel, which advises the City on important planning applications.

The Forum presents an annual award and plaque, based on our Logo to a student at Norwich City Council.  This award supports achievement by a student intending to make a career change.
